MacStadium Alternative: Dedicated M6 Mac mini From $99
Prices checked by the MacMetro team
If you need one Mac mini or a few, MacMetro costs less than MacStadium. We rent a dedicated Apple M6 Mac mini for $99 a month. The closest MacStadium plan gives you an M4 with the same memory and storage for $149. MacStadium is still the better pick if you need a Mac today, dozens of them, or Orka.
We run MacMetro, so read this knowing we have a stake in it. The MacStadium prices come from its public pricing page, linked at the bottom, so you can check our numbers.

How Much Do You Save?
Base has the same memory and storage as M4.S on a newer chip, and costs $50 less a month. Premium matches M4.M on memory and storage for $80 less, which comes to $960 a year per Mac.
The MacStadium plans compared here run on the M4, and ours run on the M6, so CPU-bound builds should finish sooner with us.
Our Macs are in the NYC Metro area. That helps if you drive Screen Sharing from the Northeast, or if your other servers are in US East.
When Is MacStadium the Better Pick?
When you need a Mac today. We're sold out, and MacStadium had many models ready right away when we checked. It also sells hardware we don't, like the M4 Pro with 48 GB, Mac Studio, and plans with 1 to 2 TB of storage.
Want a fresh macOS virtual machine for every CI job? MacStadium built Orka for that, and we have nothing like it. Larger companies that want annual or multi-year terms will find those at MacStadium too.
How Did We Compare?
We read the public pricing page at macstadium.com on November 2, 2026 and matched plans by memory and storage. We left out setup fees, promotions, and annual prepay pricing. To see every provider side by side, go to Mac mini hosting prices, or see MacMetro pricing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a cheaper alternative to MacStadium?
MacMetro, at $99 a month for a dedicated Apple M6 Mac mini. The closest MacStadium plan, M4.S, is an M4 with the same 16 GB of memory and 256 GB SSD for $149, as of November 2, 2026. MacMetro is sold out right now, so new customers join a waitlist.
Does MacStadium offer the M6 Mac mini?
Not at a public price. MacStadium mentions M5 and M6 upgrades on its bare metal page, but on November 2, 2026 its price list stopped at the M4 and M4 Pro for Mac mini. MacMetro sells only the M6.
Is MacMetro a good fit for a large team?
Not yet. MacMetro suits people and small teams who want one to a few Macs at a fixed monthly price. If you need dozens of Macs, Orka virtualization, or Mac Studio hardware today, MacStadium is the better fit.
Can I move my CI from MacStadium to MacMetro?
Yes, if your CI runs on a plain macOS host over SSH. GitHub Actions self-hosted runners, Buildkite agents, Jenkins agents, and fastlane all install the same way on a MacMetro Mac. Anything built on Orka would need to be rebuilt.
